Tick, tock…

Life is undoubtedly busy if you embrace it and chose for it to be! The song  "I Don't Have Time To Be In Love" sang by Pricilla Ahn, got me thinking about the inconveniences in life. The lyrics in the song talk about being too busy and lacking time for love. Yet, it depicts how time is available and unimportant when it comes to being with the person one's in love with. In a way, it's a bittersweet tune that leaves you pondering about ones options with time and being busy.

In my opinion, there are two kinds of busy: “Good Busy” and “Hectic Busy”.

Good Busy is when you find yourself all over the place- running from one thing/responsibility to the next, being involved in diverse activities (random, educational, inspiring etc.) and meeting a variety of people-all enriching your days and making you smile.

(Smiling is essential; otherwise you’re not having fun!)

At times all the aforementioned leave you feeling exhausted and in need for some “Me Time.” A break. A minute to step away and acknowledge what you are grateful to have and experience. A chance to catch your breath, and soak in a sense of contentment that leaves you saying “That’s right…I’m having a hell of a time!”

A visual of Good Busy, would be an expert juggler who makes his (or her) performance seem effortless as he adds objects to the air and challenges gravity. He leaves you in awe, suspense and amazement until the moment he takes a bow after successfully managing to catch several knifes and not cut himself or even worse, injure someone in the audience.

Hectic Busy is the kind represented by a cartoon of someone whose shirt’s untucked, their hair’s a mess, their eyes are bloodshot, they walk around in a bit of a panic, are shaky and it may or may not be from several cups of coffee. All in all, their Zen is out of whack! Yes, perhaps this is an exaggeration, but you get the picture.

Anyway, after some work, assessment (reassessment), luck and various leaps of faith, I at this point, have somehow acquired Good Busy!! As I look at my calendar and see my weekends are booked for the next two months, I try not to get overwhelmed but rejoice in all the “fun stuff” I have coming up, because this is not rehearsal. We only get one shot, so we might as well "break a leg!"
